'Irish linen... not just for Irish weather'

Profile

The linen rain collection is the 'brain child' of designer Winnie Magee, who back in 1990 had the idea to use Ireland's most famous fabric for Ireland's most famous weather. Much trial, error and research resulted in a breathable water repellent linen without oil or wax giving this traditional fabric a modern and practical application. The unique and very stylish collection of linen raincoats for men women and children has been described as 'classic with a modern twist, taking note of the changing trends but never following the crowd.' Casual smart with a splash of colour it has stood the test of time ..(30 years of time in 2020).. and still selling strongly across a wide range of diverse markets. The appearance at shows such as Hampton Court Palace Flower Show , the Goodwood Revival, and Burghley Horse Trials has scattered the coats far and wide across the world appealing just as easily to the gardeners and horsey set as the vintage lovers and the rock chicks. The business operates from the studios and workshops of a beautiful historic building known as the Coatmakers in Comber Co Down which has been restored by Winnie Magee keeping it in the spirit of the old town. It is here in the hands of a dedicated team individuals that the coatmaking tradition and the linen heritage continues. Long may it rain!!!
